In the community in which I was raised, many different events, from rugby matches to times of worship, were ended with the singing of various benedictions. In singing with the Taylor University Chorale for four years, I grew to appreciate the way our concerts ended with a benediction sung over the audience. Singing words of blessing is a beautiful way to end a time of fellowship with others. The prayer of Paul for his readers in Ephesians 3:16-21 has become a significant and encouraging passage for me in recent years, and so it was a natural choice for the basis of the piece’s text. I wanted the music to be straightforward in character so that the words could be easily understood and taken to heart. May you be encouraged and blessed as you listen.
